And so I heard back from the producers. Mixed reviews. 3 of them thought I had an original idea that would fit for a full-length feature film, but it was not what their studio is looking for at this time…
Over the years, I used to keep my rejection letters from all the manuscripts I have submitted and the “not what we are looking for” responses. The folder became quite large and I imagined wallpapering a house with rejection letters after having a best-seller.
I have lost the letters, but not the spirit of having submitted them. Because like the Calvin Coolidge quote: Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
And so the fact that I am an un-talented, un-educated, non-genius will not deter me — no sir-ee — because I will persist (by the grace of God). And I have friends. Friends who will order my book from Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.
Yes, to all my friends who love me, those who barely like me, and even those who really don’t care for me much, but like to read — please help me recover from my rejection and order my book.
Thank you 🙂
